NPTC
Review of the Certificate of Competence in Forest Machine Operations
NPTC is starting a review of the Certificate of Competence in Forest Machine
Operations.
It currently has a questionnaire and a diagram showing the proposed qualification
structure on the NPTC website and it will be available for comment until
31 August 2008.
Please follow the link above to the NPTC website for the questionnaire.
It is intended
that this qualification will be reviewed and updated and should be available
for accreditation in June / July 2009.

Please note that the Occupational Standards for Heavy Machinery are also
under review and Lantra is working with NPTC to link the two projects.
Woodland
Expansion in Scotland
Forestry Commission Scotland has published a discussion paper exploring
"how woodland expansion can best increase the delivery of public
benefits from Scotland’s land". The paper leads on from the framework
for woodland expansion developed under the Scottish Forestry Strategy
and highlights the key areas in which woodland expansion can deliver benefits
for Scotland.
Comments are requested by the end of September 2008.
Consultation
on Future Management of Risks from Phytophthora Ramorum and Phytophthora
Kernoviae
DEFRA is currently seeking views on the right way to manage the risks
from two fungal pathogens of plants - Phytophthora ramorum and Phytophthora
kernoviae.

Consultation
on the Operation of the Gangmasters Licensing (Exclusions) Regulations
2006
Defra is consulting on the operation of the Gangmasters Licensing (Exclusions)
Regulations.

Certificate
of Competence in Chainsaw and Related Operations Structure Consultation
NPTC has finalised a new agreed structure for the Certificate of Competence
in Chainsaw and Related Operations. NPTC is currently developing the content
for each of the units.

The
Rural Development Programme for England 2007 - 2013
The EU Commission decision formally approving the Rural Development Programme
for England 2007-2013 was issued on 7 December 2007.

The
Rural Development Plan for Wales 2007 - 2013
The Rural Development Plan (RDP) for Wales 2007-2013 was formally approved
by the European Commission's Rural Development Committee on 20 February
2008. It can be viewed by following the above link.
The
Rural Development Programme for Scotland 2007 - 2013
The Consultation took place in 2006 but the full document can be viewed
here, by following the link above.
Consultation
on the proposal to consolidate most of the current legislation on pesticide
approval, sale and use into one set of regulations. Also the introduction
of record keeping for all professional users of pesticides and removal
of 'grandfather rights'.
Please note that responses are required by 8th May 2008.
Consultation
on Proposed Pesticide Derogations for UKWAS
A Consultation on the proposed derogation applications to be made to FSC
International to allow use in the UK of a number of chemicals classified
by them as 'highly hazardous'. The paper has been drawn up following extensive
discussion within the UKWAS process and discussion with other key partners
such as the Certification Bodies operating in the UK. It is important
that we receive feedback from a full range of economic, environmental
and social stakeholders and you are strongly encouraged to respond.
Please note that responses are required by 12th June 2007.
