WOODFAIR SOUTH WEST

Woodfair South West is a chance for Westcountry woodfolk to show off their skills to an increasingly-interested public. An earlier event this year at Roadford Lake, near Okehampton, attracted nearly 150 exhibitors and 5000 visitors.

This month's event, at the National Trust's stunning Dunster Castle, on 30 September, brings together foresters and timber providers along with craftsmen and conservation groups.

There'll be a wide-range of beautifully-crafted products to buy; demonstrations by local craftsmen and exhibitions of traditional rural skills which are currently enjoying a resurgence.
Woodfair South West also brings to an end Wood 06, a free, week-long international chainsaw woodcarving festival. Sculptors from all over the world will be using their power-tools to create enormous works of art.
Exhibitors and visitors will have an opportunity to bid for these massive sculptures -as well as for the chainsaws, tools and equipment and protective clothing used - in an auction on the day.

This is the second Woodfair South West event this year and there are more in the pipeline, all of which aim to celebrate woodlands and provide a showcase for their products.
The Dunster Castle event is being organised by South West Forest, Exmoor National Park Authority and the National Trust on behalf of the Woodfair South West Partnership.
